Scottish writer and biographer of the writer Samuel Johnson, Boswell is regarded as one of the world's greatest diarists. His journals are known for their dramatic and vibrant quality.

Biography

James Boswell said that 'Men are wise in proportion, not to their experience, but to their capacity for experience. ' Boswell was a Scottish author, diarist, and lawyer who is best known as the biographer of Samuel Johnson.  He was active in the movement to abolish slavery.  Johnson's later life was plagued by alcoholism and gambling addiction, but his travel journals were successful, and his biography of Johnson is a vivid portrait that has been called the greatest biography ever written.
