About the Book
A poignant, moving story of a young country student's years at a Melbourne boarding school in the mid - twentieth century. It is a deeply personal account of perennial teenage struggles: peer pressure, academic expectations, self - doubt, depression, the lure (or not) of the opposite sex and romance, gender roles, questioning authority and 'the meaning of it all'. Told in a rich, lyrical voice, this is a fascinating social and cultural history of that period in Australia.
About the Author
Jill Sanguinetti grew up in the Victorian country town of Kyabram and went to Methodist Ladies' College as a boarder from 1958 - 1961. After many years as a teacher in schools, community centres and TAFE colleges, her passion for teaching led her to undertake a PhD in education policy. She spent 10 years lecturing and researching in the School of Education at Victoria University before becoming a writer. School Days of a Methodist Lady is her first book.
