Lull, Ramon

Catalan poet, philosopher, missionary and mystic, also known as Raymond Lully. He was among the first European scholars to support the study of Arabic languages; and for this purpose, he established a college in Mallorca in 1276. His most significant literary work is in defence of Christianity, titled Ars Magna (The Great Art). ;
